3D Printing, Another of My Interests

I cannot remember the number of times that I’ve been close to finishing a project and needed just one more specific piece to complete it but, unfortunately, I can’t. The hardware store doesn’t have it. I usually end up spending three evenings looking for it on the Internet,  scrolling through pages and pages of listings. More often than not, it ends up costing me some ridiculous amount and, to top it all off, takes 4 weeks to ship to my house. It’s moments like these that I had thought to myself, “If only I could make it myself.”
It’s because of situations like these that I got into 3D printing. I find the whole process simply fascinating.

The printer that I bought is called the Flux3D. It’s a very neat little printer with multiple tool heads and a built-in scanner.

Here are a few pictures of my printer:

Here’s their website if your interested in checking them out.

As for the header image, that is the bracket I made for my power strip that I placed under my TV stand.

This was the first item that I created from absolutely just my imagination. I used Microsoft’s 3D Builder app to build it.

It’s very easy to use. At least for me it is.

There is one thing that you will definitely need if you want to be able to do that. You’ll need a caliper set like the one below:

Precision is required.

I prefer digital calipers myself.

Often times what I do is search for items that someone else has created. For example, here is my headphone holder:

There are quite a few online communities where you can find things that you can print. One of my go-to websites is Thingiverse. Be sure you spell it correctly if you want to visit the site:  https://www.thingiverse.com/

That’s all for now.

At the moment I am working on a very big project for my loft. It’s putting my carpentry skills to the test. I’ll share more about it as soon as I have advanced enough to be sure about it’s durability.

A little about me: I'm trying to get back in touch with my creative side. So I decided to take up photography, document my progress and share it with you. Enjoy :)
